Meet the Veteran Liaisons
Veteran Liaisons are DePaul students with prior military experience that can help connect you with benefits and resources and provide support in transitioning to academic life. You can email, call or drop in to the Veteran’s Corner to meet with a Veteran Liaison.
Jeremy Giacomino served 5 years active duty in the United States Marine Corps where he was primarily stationed at MCAS Miramar in California. During his enlistment, Jeremy served two two tours in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Jeremy is currently a senior transfer student pursuing a degree in Economics. As a 4th year transfer student and veteran, Jeremy is well aware of the obstacles and challenges veterans face navigating their VA benefits. He is eager to share his wealth of experience transitioning back into the civilian sector and world of academia by helping returning veterans maximize their benefits and entitlements. He heavily encourages any vets or family members to stop into the office for more information or just to say hello.
Tyna Korcz served four years active duty in the United States Army stationed in South Korea and Germany, as well as one tour in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. She transferred to DePaul to pursue a major in Psychology with a concentration in Human Services and is currently in her Junior year. Tyna welcomes all veterans to meet with her to learn more about the resources available at DePaul. She brings a strong background in customer service to the Veteran Liaison team and is excited to share her knowledge of veteran benefits and DePaul services to the DePaul student veteran community.
Daniel Williams has been a member of the U.S. Army Reserve Corps of Engineers for the past seven years. He served in Iraq and Kuwait in support of Operation Iraq Freedom. After his tour, his transition back into civilian life brought him to DePaul University; he now studies Digital Cinema at the College of Computing and Digital Media. Studying at DePaul has been an enlightenment for him, and he hopes that his personal experience will help other veterans who study here at DePaul achieve their goals with the tools that are in front of them.
Larry is a Vietnam era veteran who served 14 years Active and Reserve duty. Larry’s first assignment, after completing basic and advanced Infantry training, was in Hawaii. He was twice deployed to Vietnam, the second of which was a 13 month Division Wide deployment. After Vietnam he focused on training and instruction serving as staff instructor for Non Commissioned officer schools, Drill Sergeant for basic training units, then completed his military career as senior instructor for an Army reserve Drill Sergeant Academy. Larry is currently a senior with the School for New Learning and volunteers at Hines VA Hospital and Veterans Centers operated by the Department of Veterans Affairs. His goal as a Veterans Liaison is to be a point of contact for all veterans with particular emphasis given to those who may have been away from an academic environment for an extended period of time.
