Winter Leadership Conference
Winter Leadership Conference pictures are up and can be viewed under our Leadership in Action section.
The Winter Leadership Conference (WLC) is a free weekend retreat experience designed to engage students in a values-based, experiential curriculum that will foster personal leadership development, build a diverse community, and establish meaningful student relationships. The conference typically takes place the second weekend of January. Each year, an average of 130 students attend. Applications to attend the conference are available in October through SLI. Here is some information about the success of the WLC:
- 95% of conference participants strongly agreed or agreed that the values chosen for the conference were important to their development as a leader.
- 84% of conference participants strongly agreed or agreed that the conference added to their personal development.
- 94% of conference participants strongly agreed or agreed that the staff facilitators created a positive learning environment during individual team sessions, while 93% strongly agreed or agreed that the presence of a peer facilitator added to the group process.
- 86% of students strongly agreed or agreed that they would recommend this type of conference experience to another student.
- 96% strongly agreed or agreed that they were able to gain a respect and value for the diverse perspectives of others, as well as increase their individual comfort for moving across cultural, racial, and ethnic boundaries.
- 85% strongly agreed or agreed that they were able to build supportive network relationships with leaders and mentors at DePaul.
- 89% strongly agreed or agreed that the conference experience would increase their desire to further engage in leadership involvement at DePaul.
