Leadership Certification:
Interested students may earn a Certificate in Leadership Development that will be noted on their official college transcript upon completion of the certificate requirements (listed below). This co-curricular certification is a free opportunity offered to any interested undergraduate student.
Certification Requirements:
SLI has recently transformed its Certificate Program requirements. Currently, to earn a leadership certificate, students must complete 32 Student Leadership Development Credits.* The breakdown is as follows:
- 4 required core workshops (12 SLD Credits)
- 1 of 5 options for the required capstone experience (3 SLD credits)
- A combination of elective workshops, SLI sponsored programs, and approved trainings (17 SLD credits)
*SLD (Student Leadership Development) credits are defined as non-academic experiential leadership development credits assigned by the Student Leadership Institute to sponsored/approved workshops and programs. Currently, 1 SLD credit is
approximately equivalent to 1 hour of active participation in a leadership development/education workshop, program, or training session.
Important Note: Students seeking a certificate may apply for the approval
of up to 8 SLD credits for training and active participation in leadership education outside of SLI sponsored workshops and programs. To learn more, please contact SLI.
