Can I apply at DePaul University through the PLuS Program?
No. All students need to meet the DePaul University admission criteria. They need to apply directly to DePaul University through the Admissions Department. For further information about the admission process at DePaul University go to DePaul University's admission page.
When should I contact the PLuS Program?
You should contact the PLuS Program as soon as you hear from DePaul University that you were accepted. At this point you are ready to proceed with the PLuS application. Go to the
'Apply' page to review and/or download the PLuS Application Packet.
Will my professors know that I participate in the PLuS Program?
Only if you inform them. PLuS respects each student's choices regarding disclosure contacts only those for whom you have signed a release of information form. If you do choose to sign a release, PLus can advocate for you in certain circumstances. For details regarding confidentiality while participating in the PLuS Program go to the
'Confidentiality' page.
Do the PLuS students take special courses?
No. PLuS students follow the regular DePaul curriculum and may enroll in any of the courses DePaul offers. Students may choose to meet for one or two hours per week with a PLuS Clinician (learning disabilities specialist) for the duration of the quarter to receive additional help. However, availability of clinicians is limited. Visit DePaul's 'Academics' page to learn more about DePaul University's academic programs.
Are there other ways to receive help at DePaul, if I need to?
Yes. DePaul provides a variety of services and resources to current students. For example, students may choose to visit the Writing Centers, Counseling Services, the University Ministry, the Cultural Center. Assistance for disabled students is also available from the Office of Students with Disabilities. For a listing of all available services at DePaul go to the DePaul 'Current Students' page.
Upon acceptance to PLuS, what services may I receive?
If you are eligible for the PLuS program, after reviewing your documentation, the services you may be eligible to receive include having extended time for all your DePaul University exams in a separate room,
priority registration status, advocacy, access to services through the Office for Students with Disabilities, and weekly sessions with a PLuS Clinician (learning disabilities specialist). Weekly meetings with a PLuS Clinician is the only service that requires a fee. For a detailed description of PLuS services and applicable fees visit the PLuS 'Services' page.
Please note that Clinician services have limited availability and, depending on the number of requests PLuS receives, you may be placed on a waiting list.
The rest of the services and accommodations are available to ALL eligible students.
I do have a LD, and/or AD/HD but I want to achieve on my own.
Do I need to visit PLuS?
PLuS' ultimate goal is for all students to become independent learners. If you feel ready to be independent then you might not need PLuS' services; however, you should visit PLuS, especially if you are a new student. It is better to know all the available resources you have as a student and then decide if and when you might want to use them.

Do I have to maintain the same status with PLuS every quarter?
No. You may change your status depending on your course load. However, it is strongly recommended to discuss any changes with your Clinician or PLuS' Director. Students who decide to change status, usually go from Full time (meeting twice a week with a Clinician) to Part time (meeting once a week with a Clinician), or from Part time to Independent. Visit the PLuS 'Services' page for a description of the options you have.
