Office Services

Advising/Counseling:
OMSA staff members are available to meet with students as needed to assist with academic, personal, financial, career, and transitional concerns. OMSA staff members utilize a holistic approach when working with students and utilize collaborative relationships with key university departments to assist in appropriately referring students

Advocacy:
OMSA staff advocate for the needs and concerns of students of color by working closely with key departments and resources across the university. Our collaborative partnerships with faculty and DePaul officials assist in creating a campus climate that is culturally affirming and where all DePaul students are treated with dignity and respect.

Book Loan Library:
Students facing financial difficulties are sometimes unable to acquire the resources needed to purchase books for courses at DePaul. In efforts to aid these students a book loan program was established that allows any DePaul student to take books out on loan for the quarter and return the books after finals. The Legacy of Learning Educational Fund is granted through our office. This scholarship is awarded to several recipients quarterly and yields a maximum of $200 dollars to each recipient for the purchase of books. Besides student donations, the books in the loan program are replenished when the award recipients return the books purchased with the scholarship awards. This allows the books editions to be occasionally updated and keeps the books up-to-date.

Computer Labs:
OMSA's Lincoln Park office offers a small general computer lab with Intelliprint for students to utilize for educational purposes. The lab is open year-round during normal office hours.

Graduate School Programming:
OMSA has established strong collaborations with internal and external partners to provide assistance to students of color in pursuit of graduate education. OMSA offers programs and workshops intended to assist students of color in learning about graduate level educational opportunities. Workshops provide information on the academic requirements, as well as information on preparation for the application process for master's, doctoral, and professional level degrees. Resource materials are available at both Lincoln Park and Loop OMSA offices for students to utilize in gathering information and exploring graduate school. In addition, all OMSA staff members are available to meet with students to guide them in their pursuit of graduate degrees.
