Travel >> Departure Procedures  

As you plan for your departure from the United States, please keep the following things in mind: 

• US-VISIT  procedures currently apply to all visitors (with limited exemptions) holding non-immigrant visas (including F-1 students), regardless of country of origin.  For the most up-to-date information on departure procedures with US-VISIT, visit the US-VISIT site and read US-VISIT: How it Works.

• For those subject to Special Registration under the National Security Entry-Exit Registration System (NSEERS), as of December 2, 2003, you are still required to “check-out” before a departure control officer on the day that you are departing in order to close your registration. You are also required to exit from a designated port of departure. Refer to Special Registration Procedures for Visitors and Temporary Residents for a listing of designated ports of departure (pages 7-8 and 9-26).
