About Chicago
Chicago, affectionately
known as the Windy City, is a diverse and
vibrant place. We hope that you will have an
opportunity to see some of the sights and learn
about the history of Chicago while you are
studying in the U.S. Find out why Chicago is
called the Windy City. Hint: it is not because
of the strong winds!
Check the
News and Events section for upcoming events
sponsored by the International Student Office (ISO).
In the past we have taken an architecture tour on
the river, gone to see a Chicago Fire soccer game,
taken a tour on the CTA trains and attended many
cultural performances.
For general information
about things to see and do in the city, please see
DePaul’s
Chicago web site as well as the
Chicago Info page
in the Student Handbook.
The
City of Chicago also offers a wide range of events
throughout the year including numerous festivals in
the summer and fall. Their web site is a great
source for listings of free events from musical
performances to cultural events happening around the
city.
We hope that you will
enjoy the Windy City!
