The Dean of Students Office is an invaluable resource, advocate and support for
providing and identifying resources and services for students. The office helps
students in navigating the university, particularly during difficult situations,
as in personal and/or family crises, medical and/or personal leaves of absence and
implementation of the Code of Student Responsibility.
DOS' work can best be conceptualized by four words: recognize, respond, resolve and
reassure.
We recognize that college students today grapple with a myriad of life factors that
can affect their ability to be academically successful. We stand committed to supporting
and providing education to students at every step of their educational journey and
collaborate with faculty and staff throughout the institution to assist students
in overcoming the hurdles they encounter.
We respond to personal and community emergencies in a manner consistent with the
mission of DePaul University. Ensuring the dignity of our students and the safety
of our community is paramount as we respond to student needs.
We attempt to resolve any student crisis, personal distress, judicial case or advocacy
need by partnering with the student and other community members to promote self
reflection, critical thinking and personal and professional growth within a context
that acknowledges and values diversity.
We are here to reassure that any DePaul community member who is uncertain of where
to turn may call DOS and speak to a staff member who has the appropriate knowledge,
experience and commitment to the mission of DePaul. Please feel free to stop by
our offices to inquire about our services. We are happy to work with you as we support
the student experience at DePaul University.
