MLK Prayer Breakfast
Each year, the Cultural Center hosts a breakfast dedicated to honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and other heroes from the civil rights movement. For more information, please visit
the Cultural Center website.
Cultural Expressions
Cultural Expressions was created to explore the rich and diverse cultures of DePaul's student, staff and faculty. Educational discussions, history, art, music and cuisine are featured during the engaging programs. In the past, the Cultural Center has celebrated the cultural heritages of Indonesia, Belize, Ukraine, China and India.
Cultural Center Allocation Fund
The goal of the Cultural Center Allocation Fund is to provide monetary support to the university's cultural and ethnic organizations for the promotion of America's underrepresented and marginalized cultures, including African American; American Indian; Asian; Ethnic Greek; Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender (GLBT); Jewish; Latino/a and Muslim. The Cultural Center Allocations Fund is an important source of revenue for these organizations, providing funds to educate, inform, and enliven the sponsoring group and the university community as a whole. For more information, please visit
the Cultural Center website.
Diversity Training Programs
A series of mandatory diversity training programs was developed for Allocation Fund Board members and student groups that petition for funds. These training sessions are designed to deepen an understanding of one's own culture and heritage; foster inter-cultural understanding, awareness, and communication; promote leadership and self-esteem and encourage collaboration in programming among fund participants. For more information, please visit Cultural Center website.
Festival of Lights Program
The popular Festival of Lights program provides opportunities for students involved with the Cultural Center Allocation Fund to express and share their various heritages and learn about the traditions of others. Nine groups representing African American, Asian, Ethnic Greek, Jewish, Latino/a, and Muslim cultures depict a festival or holiday celebrated within their respective communities that incorporated light as a symbol.
President's Brunch
The Office of Multicultural Student Affairs sponsors an Annual President's Brunch in the Autumn Quarter every year for families and first-year undergraduate students of color. The President's Brunch serves as an opportunity for the President to officially welcome these families and students into the DePaul Community.
Diversity Awareness Seminars
The Office of Diversity Education works with directors and managers throughout Student Affairs to develop and facilitate diversity awareness seminars for staff, student organizations and all groups affiliated with the division. The staff coordinates development seminars on higher education issues, such as first-generation college students, holistic education and diversity. For more information, please
