The
Cultural Center, in collaboration with the Office of
LGBTQA Student Services, hosted a collection of
stoles on display for a week. The stoles tour
nationally and bring light to some of the struggles
and successes the LGBT community faces in the
religious realm. Each stole tells the story of one
LGBT person of faith, and how their sexual identity
and religious traditions have intersected.
Those that visited the exhibit shared
reflections about the stoles. Many were intrigued by
the stories portrayed on the stoles of combating
injustices in the LGBTQ community. They shared a
universal feeling that people should not be ashamed
for who they are and they felt religious people
should not be defined by social parameters. |
