Life Skills Program

Overview of NCAA CHAMPS Life/Skills Program

Student - Athletes who attend DePaul University soon find out that the college experience is not limited to their endeavors in the classroom or in competition. As a student - athlete at DePaul, you are part of a dynamic learning community that stresses the pursuit of intellectual and athletic excellence, personal growth, career readiness and a commitment to serving the greater community.

DePaul has always been a school for active learners, for those student-athletes who have the same competitive drive for excellence whether it be in the classroom or on the playing field. That is why the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) chose DePaul to be among the first schools to implement the NCAA/Champs Life Skills Program in the Fall of 1994. The NCAA/Champs Life Skills Program takes learning beyond the classroom to help student-athletes make the most of their college.

Academic Excellence

Last Year, five DePaul teams won the conference academic award, given to the team with the highest overall grade point average. This was more than any other Conference USA School.

DePaul student-athletes understand the importance of successfully balancing academics and athletics. We can help by improving your study and test taking skills and through careful advising provided by our athletic academic advising program. DePaul also offers an excellent tutoring program and other services in its new academic center.

Athletic Excellence

DePaul University has a long history of athletic excellence and by all means, we plan to continue to provide the very best in competition and to continue our winning ways. But athletics on the Division I level is also about sportsmanship and about the well being of the student-athlete.
